Which generation should I buy?
Gen4 is our default. Gen3 is still excellent if you want to save a few dollars.
| Family | What you get | Best for | Products |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gen4 | Current range. Fastest chip, Zigbee and Matter built in | Most people. Our default | 10 products |
| Gen3 | Previous range. Same job, fewer protocols | Anyone watching the budget | 17 products |
| Plus | The older name for Gen2. Still supported | Matching an existing install | 4 products |
| Mini | Smaller body for tight wall boxes | Shallow or crowded switch boxes | 7 products |
| Pro | DIN rail mount for the switchboard | Electricians and whole-home work | 17 products |
| BLU | Battery powered, Bluetooth and Zigbee | Sensors and buttons, no wiring | 6 products |
| Wave | Z-Wave versions for existing Z-Wave homes | Anyone already running a Z-Wave hub | 9 products |
The Wall Displays and the Camera sit outside the generation system. They are current products with no Gen3 or Gen4 label, and they work alongside every family above.
Which energy meter?
All 6 are fitted at the switchboard by a licensed electrician. Clamps clip around a cable, so no circuit is broken.

Before you buy: the install
Shelly modules that connect to fixed wiring must be installed by a licensed electrician. That is the law in every Australian state, and it is not a formality. Plug-in modules, battery sensors and buttons need no electrician at all, and we label every product so you know which is which.
Our range is selected by a trade-qualified electrician.
Every product page has its wiring diagram and user manual under Downloads.
Common questions
Do I need an electrician?
Do I need a hub?
What happens if the Wi-Fi drops out?
What is a neutral wire, and why does it matter?
Gen3 or Gen4?
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Shelly smart relays, dimmers, energy meters and sensors let you retrofit smart control behind the existing switch, without new wall plates or rewiring. The range covers homes with no neutral wire at the switch, tight wall boxes that need a Mini, DIN rail modules for the switchboard, and single- or three-phase energy monitoring with clamp-on current transformers for consumption and solar. Every product on this page is Australian RCM-compliant stock from the authorised distributor, chosen by a trade-qualified electrician, with the wiring diagram and user guide on the product page. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Matter and Z-Wave versions are available, and most of the range works locally with Home Assistant as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home.
