About this product
The Shelly Wave i4 isn't a relay: it's an input controller. 4 dry-contact/switch inputs let you wire in existing wall switches or push-buttons and use them purely to trigger scenes, automations or other devices elsewhere on the Z-Wave network, without switching any load itself. It's AC-powered (110 to 240 V), which distinguishes it from its sibling the Wave i4 DC.
Like every Z-Wave device, it needs a separate Z-Wave controller or hub already on the network to do anything, which is normal for the protocol, not a shortfall of the unit. Shelly's documentation lists Home Assistant, Fibaro, Homey, SmartThings (via the Shelly Wave edge driver), Vera and Ezlo as compatible gateway platforms, with some caveats noted for certain Homey and Ezlo configurations around detecting different press types.
