2-way switched stairs or hallway, and they want app control too?
Keep the existing 2-way wiring. The Shelly Pro 1PM sits in the switchboard and reads the switch pair on its input, so either switch still works and the app does not fight them. Diagram: Shelly.
Adding a second switch without running a new 3-wire?
The economy 2-way circuit uses the Shelly Pro 1PM input as the common point, so a second switch only needs a loop back to the device. Cheaper than pulling a new 2-way cable through the ceiling. Diagram: Shelly.

About this product
The Shelly Pro 1PM is a DIN-rail relay built for the switchboard rather than the wall box: single channel, power-metered, and rated to 16 A. Unlike Shelly's compact retrofit relays, it includes a physical Ethernet (RJ45) port alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so it can run on a hardwired LAN connection where Wi-Fi reliability inside a metal switchboard enclosure is a concern.
It measures voltage, current and power on the single output, giving precise consumption figures for automated lighting circuits or heavier connected appliances. The current hardware revision (v.1) improves on the earlier v.0 with 4-layer relay PCBs for better thermal performance, upgraded connectors, and better dielectric plastics: the older 12 VDC power option has been dropped in the process.
Being a Pro-series device, it carries Shelly's longest warranty tier and is designed for installation by licensed electricians inside a switchboard, not for DIY retrofitting behind a standard wall switch.
