About this product
The Shelly Wave 1 is a single-channel Z-Wave relay with a potential-free (dry-contact) output, which makes it more flexible than a straight mains relay. It can switch not just lighting circuits but also electric locks, gate motors, garage doors and irrigation valves, since the dry contact isn't tied to a specific voltage the way a live/neutral switched output is. It has no power metering, unlike its sibling the Wave 1PM.
It's a Z-Wave 800-series device and, like every Z-Wave product, needs a Z-Wave controller or hub already on the network. This is a normal characteristic of the protocol, not a shortfall of the device. Shelly names Home Assistant, Fibaro, Homey, SmartThings (via the Shelly Wave edge driver), Vera/Ezlo and Cozify as compatible gateway platforms.
This is the AU/NZ variant (part number QNSW-001X16AU), operating on 919.8 MHz, the correct frequency for Australia and New Zealand.
