Customer wants the light on their phone, but the wall switch has to keep working?
The Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 sits behind the existing switch. The switch still turns the light on and off as it always did, and the app, voice and schedules work on top of it. No new switch plate, no extra cabling. Diagram: Shelly.

2-way switched stairs or hallway, and they want app control too?
Keep the existing 2-way wiring. The Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 goes at the light or in the switch enclosure and reads the switch pair on its input, so either switch still works and the app does not fight them. Diagram: Shelly.

Adding a second switch without running a new 3-wire?
The economy 2-way circuit uses the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 input as the common point, so a second switch only needs a loop back to the device. Cheaper than pulling a new 2-way cable through the ceiling. Diagram: Shelly.

Customer has momentary push-buttons, not rocker switches?
Set the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 input to button mode. A short press toggles the load, and the device remembers state, so an apartment-style push-button circuit works with no impulse relay. Diagram: Shelly.

Commercial job with an impulse (latching) relay already in the board?
The Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 pulses the impulse relay coil in parallel with the existing push-buttons. Buttons keep working, the app and schedules are added, and the relay still does the heavy switching. Diagram: Shelly.

Existing impulse relay on 12 V control, and the owner wants app control?
Keep the impulse relay and let the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 drive its coil on the 12 V side. Push-buttons work as before, the app toggles the same relay, and nothing on the lighting circuit changes. Diagram: Shelly.

Load bigger than 16 A: hot water, oven, pool heat pump?
Use the Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 to drive a contactor coil and let the contactor carry the current. The relay stays well inside its rating and the app still gets full on, off and schedule control. Diagram: Shelly.

About this product
The Shelly 1 Mini Gen4 solves the most common physical problem in retrofit work: a wall box already crowded with conductors. At 29 × 34 × 16 mm it's substantially smaller than the standard module, while keeping a proper dry-contact relay rated at 8 A / 2,000 W: plenty for lighting circuits and small appliances.
Being Gen4, it carries 4 radios: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, Zigbee and certified built-in Matter. That means it joins whichever ecosystem the customer runs, Apple Home via Matter, Google, Alexa, SmartThings, or fully local through Home Assistant and MQTT, without a hub or a firmware update.
No power metering at this size. If the job needs consumption data, use the 1PM Mini Gen4 in the same footprint.
